ZEBRA: On September 17, we publicly launched the KC401 Kiosk Computer! Our latest kiosk is designed to deliver an intuitive self-service experience for your customers and their frontline.

What Is the Zebra KC401?

The Zebra KC401 is a compact Android kiosk computer built for high-traffic environments. Its intuitive touchscreen interface helps customers and employees navigate tasks, access information, complete transactions, and request assistance.

The 10.1-inch WXGA display provides a clear 1280 x 800 resolution with 300-nit brightness. The device can be installed in either portrait or landscape orientation, making it easy to adapt to different kiosk designs and facility layouts.

The KC401 also supports virtual, Bluetooth, and USB keyboards, stereo speakers, microphones, headset connectivity, and voice applications.

Key Benefits of the Zebra KC401

1. Improve the Self-Service Experience

The KC401 helps businesses provide guided, easy-to-use interactions for customers and employees. Users can complete routine tasks independently, reducing wait times and allowing staff to focus on more complex needs.

Potential self-service applications include:

  • Price and inventory checks
  • Returns
  • Loyalty identification
  • Point-of-sale transactions
  • Guest check-in
  • Patient check-in
  • Digital information displays

2. Support Contactless Transactions and Scanning

The KC401 includes NFC technology to support compatible contactless payment and digital wallet experiences. It can support Apple VAS, Google Smart Tap, and other NFC-based applications depending on the software and deployment configuration.

Businesses can also add an optional Zebra SR500 1D/2D scan engine. This allows customers or employees to scan product barcodes, loyalty cards, tickets, badges, and other items directly at the kiosk.

Optional scanning configurations are available with different scan angles to support specific installation and workflow requirements.

3. Flexible Installation Options

The Zebra KC401 is designed to fit a wide range of deployment environments. It supports universal VESA mounting and can be installed on walls, counters, poles, cabinetry, and other kiosk structures.

Power options include:

  • 12V DC power
  • 5.4V DC power
  • Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+)

With Wi-Fi 7 and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, businesses can deploy the KC401 in locations where wired network access or traditional power infrastructure may be limited.

4. Built for Demanding Business Environments

The KC401 is designed for continuous interaction in high-traffic environments. Its durable touch panel features 9H hardness, fingerprint-resistant coating, and support for bare or gloved fingertip input.

The IP65-sealed design helps protect the device from dust and liquids. This makes the KC401 suitable for environments where frequent cleaning, durability, and dependable operation are important.

5. Simplify Device Management and Security

The KC401 includes Zebra DNA Core software to help simplify device setup, security, and management. Businesses can also choose optional Zebra DNA upgrades for enhanced data capture, wireless performance, and advanced applications.

Zebra LifeGuard for Android helps organizations manage operating system updates and security patches. Zebra OneCare services are also available to help protect device uptime and support long-term fleet performance.

A Practical Upgrade from the Zebra CC6000

Organizations currently using Zebra CC6000 kiosks can modernize with the KC401 while minimizing disruption. Zebra designed the KC401 as a drop-in replacement that can work with existing cabinetry, mounting hardware, and infrastructure in many deployments.

This gives businesses a practical way to upgrade their self-service technology without completely redesigning their kiosk environment.
