A major advantage of the A&D BM-5D is its built-in direct-current fan-less ionizer, which helps neutralize static electricity that can interfere with microgram-level weighing. Electrostatic charges on powders, plastics, filters, containers, pharmaceutical ingredients, films, and other materials can contribute to unstable readings and measurement errors. When a tare container causes the displayed value to exceed the precision range, users can press the RE-ZERO key to regain the 0.001 mg readability range for net sample weighing within the applicable capacity. This feature provides additional flexibility when extremely small samples must be weighed in containers or vessels that would otherwise consume part of the high-resolution weighing range.

Linearity is specified at ±0.010 mg in the precision range and ±0.02 mg in the standard range, with a typical minimum weight of 5 mg under A&D’s stated USP Chapter 41 methodology.

The BM-5D includes a built-in calibration weight for convenient calibration and professional accuracy management.
